MDF Moldings are on Ozempic, way too skinny and flimsy for a true craftsman!

In the world of woodworking, true craftsmen are voicing their concerns about the latest trend—MDF moldings that seem to be “on Ozempic,” as some jokingly put it. Once seen as a budget-friendly option, MDF moldings are now getting a reputation for being too skinny and flimsy for high-quality projects. With the rise of ultra-thin profiles, seasoned builders are finding them lacking in the durability and heft needed for true craftsmanship.

Woodworkers are increasingly turning back to solid wood options and other real wood trim, lamenting that MDF just can’t stand up to the precision and strength required for fine detail work. “It’s like they’re on a crash diet,” one builder quipped. For those who value substance over cost-cutting, the trend of ultra-thin MDF moldings just doesn’t cut it.
